One of the most essential elements of training for orchestral musicians is the art of taking auditions. 管弦乐表现 majors have the opportunity to perform in regularly scheduled mock auditions during the academic year, 并联初步, 半决赛, 和 final orchestra audition st和ards 和 practices 和 adjudicated by program faculty 和 other musicians from major New York City 管弦乐队 和 performing ensembles.

Three formats 和 different environments for learning are used for coaching: weekly instrumental sessions taught by program faculty (lessons); monthly instrumental sectionals conducted by program faculty 和 guest artists; 和 quarterly wind/brass/percussion readings conducted by both staff 和 guest conductors.

Preparation 和 training as teaching artists in Manhattan School of Music’s nationally recognized educational outreach program is offered in this required course. It has been designed to develop skills 和 offer experience as a teaching artist in elementary 和 middle school arts education programs.

Students are exposed to a variety of pedagogical methods 和 materials during the process of writing 和 delivering classroom introductions 和 educational concerts in New York City schools, as part of Manhattan School of Music ’s educational outreach program, 音乐教.
